FWP BY Rae was born out of a love for good quality ethically made sustainable clothing, with extra emphasis on both style and affordability.

I previously co-owned a small independent wine company (The French Wine Project) with my then husband, running the day to day accounts (boring), marketing and design of the website. I spent a lot of time researching wines in order to write up tasting notes, and found that a lot of descriptions and some words in particular kept jumping out at me, also giving meaning to things outside of the world of wine.

A lover of a good slogan Tee, I soon had enough inspiration for some designs. Next was finding the right products, and working out the best way to print, and how to.

Whilst trying to source products, I also wanted to get an idea of what is involved in printing onto clothing, especially as I wanted a clean, bright and good quality print. With a friend in tow, I signed up to do a course in screen printing so that I could fully understand the process.

To begin with, I used products manufactured from ethical companies, meaning the  clothing is made in factories with good working conditions and fair wages, using raw materials of organic cotton, Tencel, Modal, recycled polyester. All the finishing is done here in the UK. However, within the first 2 years, the company I used stop producing the particular items I loved.

Cut and style is extremely important to me, and as some of my favourite styles were discontinued, it forced me to take on the design and manufacturing process myself. A massive learning curve but in May 2019 I launched my first in-house designs with the deep rounded V t-shirt and classic crew neck t-shirt. The following month the fine knit sweatshirt launched I have plans for new designs.

Importantly I am striving to create products that are sustainable, high quality cuts, and will continue to print on to favourites.

Check out the range in our shop and I hope you love them as much as I do.
